Veracruz | Day 4

So much happened today, I cannot even begin to remember it all.  Furthermore, it would take up way too much of your time if I tried.  So, I will just share a few highlights.

This morning, my team got sent to a church in a pretty “rough” location.  I knew this when, during our pre-briefing, we were told that we needed to leave our wallets and cell phones at the church under lock and key because there had been a lot of robbery in the neighborhood!  So I had to trust the Lord and the people and surrender all of my identification, money, and phone.  The funny thing is that I knew it was a good thing for me to have to trust in this way.

While we were sharing the gospel on the street, several came to Christ, but the most memorable was when the young lady on our team shared the gospel with two young girls (approximately 10-12 years old).  They were both so happy to hear the gospel and give their lives to Christ!  The young lady that shared with them was beaming!  Then a few minutes later the two came back with another little girl (approximately 4 years old).  They want her to hear the gospel too!  Our team leader/translator, Jose, and I stood at a distance with tears of joy in our eyes!

I was reminded, first of all, how Andrew met Jesus and went home to get his brother and bring him to Jesus.  I was then reminded of the woman at the well, who went back to town and brought many people to meet Jesus!  Finally, I was reminded of how Jesus said, “Let the little children come unto Me.”

How beautiful it was to see these girls hug their little cousin and smile, and clap their hands for joy.  They wanted us then to go back to their house and tell their Aunt.  We gladly went, but she could not stop cooking supper to come out and hear.  But from this day forward, she will have two daughters and a niece to continually show and proclaim to her the joy of knowing Jesus Christ
