Veracruz | Day 6

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to post a blog yesterday as Brad was under the weather the whole day. However, today, he is feeling MUCH better!

FROM BRAD:

I was able to spend the whole day out on the streets with my group (unlike yesterday). Today we went to what they consider a middle class neighborhood. This neighborhood happened to be one where a member of the church we’ve been working with lives.

We led many to the Lord in that neighborhood.

Yesterday was a super hot day, but today was beautiful. It was windy and overcast, which made it perfect for walking the streets to share the gospel.

After a day on the streets sharing the gospel we came back to the church we have been working with and did their midweek service. I led the church in a couple song and Pastor Adrian did as well.

After the midweek service they took me out for Mexican Hotdogs. Which is basically American hotdogs with a whole bunch of different toppings. Mine had onion, chorizo, mayo, mustard, and some sort of cheese. It was very tasty, and not spicy at all.

I put this in a post on Facebook, but I thought I would share it here as well...I’m learning an interesting lesson this week as I have spent several days in a country where I do not speak the language at all really. I’m learning to listen more and speak only when I really have something to say. I don’t always have to fill the silence with my words. I learn more about others when I listen instead of doing all the talking. I think, perhaps, this has some implications with sharing the gospel too. I’ll have to chew on that some before I put it down on paper, but it’s something worth thinking about at least.

Tomorrow is our last day out on the streets, and then we end the day with a joint gathering with the other teams back here at the hotel (I believe). Not sure what happens after that. I do know that on Friday, we will have a day out on the town, so I’m hoping to spend some time with some of the men that I’ve met from the other teams and have been enjoying getting to know this week.

Dale and I do have our COVID test tomorrow morning, which determines if we enter the US this weekend, or have to remain behind for another 2 weeks or until we have a negative test. So please pray with and for us that we are able to make it home this week.

FROM DALE:

It has been both challenging and freeing to decide what to preach on and be prepared in just a small window of time.  We are out early in the day ministering the gospel on the streets.

After lunch, we are out again for several hours until we reassemble at our local church for an evening testimony and worship service.  Tonight, I was exhausted before getting up to preach and the Holy Spirit prompted me to preach a totally different message (although a text I have preached many times before) just a few minutes before the service.  I felt the power of God upon me as I preached, in a way I haven’t for quite some time during the sermon.

The worship leader got a translator to help him tell me how powerful the message was to him as I hugged him and he wept.  We also saw a lot more people come to Christ today in the park and in the community!  All glory to God!  Pray for us as we seek the strength to go out together one more time on this mission.

All glory to God!  Gloria A Dios!
